Terms of use

I. Data sharing and communication with the Word Trade Institute

 

1. By activating your account in the network database of the WTI Net, you accept that the World Trade Institute is entitled to access and store the information you enter, including your personal data.

a. The World Trade Institute is the data controller as defined in the Personal Data Act (Datenschutzgesetz des Kantons Bern) and responsible for the information stored in the WTI Net database.

b. The World Trade Institute may analyse data for statistical purposes and publish aggregated results. Your privacy shall remain protected and individuals will not be identifiable.

c. The World Trade Institute shall not share any individual information you enter with third parties.

 

2. You accept that the World Trade Institute may use the WTI Net to send you information and promotional materials.

a. The WorldTrade Institute uses the WTI Net to keep you connected with your peers, up to date on courses and events at the institute, job postings and other items we believe might be of value to you.

b. We do not use the WTI Net to market third-party goods and services to you; unless the third party offers a significantly better price or package to you compared to regular customers, and we believe the good or service might be of value to you professionally.

 

3. You shall not share your login information or let others access your account.

 

 

II. Posting and sharing personal information on the WTI Net Alumni Community

 

1. You accept that your name, class, year of graduation or other affiliation with the WTI are made visible to all members of the WTI Net.

a. ‘Other affiliations' are, for example, WTI staff member, researcher, and faculty member.

 

2. Concerning all other information you enter in your profile, you alone decide whether it is visible partially or in its entirety to other users in the network. Please familiarize yourself with the privacy settings of your account.

 

3. You can, at any time, verify and modify the information that you post in your profile.

 

4. You cannot modify information about your name, class or affiliation with the WTI.

a. Such modifications can be made by a WTI Net administrator upon request. Please contact us by email and we will make the necessary changes.

 

5. You shall not enter false or misleading information about yourself on the WTI Net.

 

 

III. Posting content on the WTI Net Alumni Community

 

1. You retain ownership of all content you post on the WTI Net which you created and is covered by intellectual property rights.

a. In particular, this refers to photos, videos and text (including publications) and any other forms of media.

b. You agree to make any of your uploaded content available under the ‘attribution-noncommercial-share alike' creative commons license (see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ for details).

c. This license ends when you delete your content or when you terminate your account.

d. This license does not end if you delete content jointly created with other users or content you shared with other users, and they keep it posted.

 

2. You shall not post content or link to content outside of the WTI Net that is hateful, threatening, racist, pornographic, or that contains nudity or depicts violence.

 

3. You shall not post links to web sites outside of the WTI Net which attempt to install viruses or other malicious code on users' systems.

 

4. You shall not post content that violates another person's rights or is against the law.

 

5. You shall not post another person's sensitive information, e.g. private contact details, financial data.

 

6. The World Trade Institute reserves the right to remove any content you post on the WTI Net at any time, without notice and without justification. We will make an attempt to notify you but are not required to do so.

 

 

IV. Communication and code of conduct on the WTI Net Alumni Community

 

1. You shall not use software to extract user's information or upload viruses to the WTI Net.

 

2. You shall not use the built-in communication tools of the network for commercial purposes.

 

3. You shall not collect the network users' information without the World Trade Institute's and the individual user's permission.

a. In particular, you shall not extract users' email and postal addresses for commercial purposes.

b. You shall not use the WTI Net for profiling users in relation to commercial or non-commercial activities.

 

4. You shall not ask other users for their login information or access their accounts.

 

5. You shall not intimidate or harass any user.

 

6. You shall not use the WTI Net to pursue any unlawful acts or instigate such behaviour from other users.

 

7. You shall not instigate any violations of the Terms of Use.

 

 

V. Termination

 

1. If you violate the letter or the spirit of these Terms of Use, the World Trade Institute reserves the right to block your access and remove your profile from the WTI Net at any time and without justification. We will make an attempt to notify you but are not required to do so.

 

2. You may, at any time, cancel your membership in the WTI Net. Any information you entered in your profile will be deleted. Content posted as outlined in article III will not be deleted.

 

 

VI. Other

 

1. The World Trade Institute reserves the right to modify or amend the Terms of Use at any point in time. If you continue to use the WTI Net after changes to the Terms of Use have been communicated, you implicitly agree with the modified Terms of Use. Please review the Terms of Use regularly.

 

2. Any waiver to the Terms of Use shall be made in writing and signed by the World Trade Institute.

 

3. If the World Trade Institute fails to enforce any provision in the Terms of Use, all remaining provisions remain in force.

 

4. Nothing in the Terms of Use shall prevent the World Trade Institute from complying with the law.

 

5. You use the WTI Net at your own risk. The World Trade Institute attempts to keep the WTI Net up and running as well as possible. The WTI Net is provided 'as is' without any explicit or implied warranties.

 

6. Any claim or dispute arising from the use of the WTI Net or in connection with its host, the World Trade Institute, shall be resolved in a court in Berne, Switzerland, under applicable Swiss law. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in Berne, Switzerland, for the purpose of litigating any such claim or dispute.
